In my quest for more German new wave (Neue Deutsche Welle) music, I stumbled across this video that somehow struck me as quite funny. To add to that, one might call this type of music "Deutsch Musak" for lack of a better term (and I mean, come on! just look at these people). AND these are definitely schlager songs as far as I can tell! GOTTA love those DANCe MOVES!
I'm tired
I have discovered fantastic music that emerged out of Germany in the 80s! I am doing all I can these days to find out more about Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW) because it is wonderful. Why? 1) It is in German 2) It is good music (well not all NDW). Es ist sehr geil und toll! Here are just a few examples of what I'm talking about. I recommend watching every one of these videos multiple times (I know I have). Enjoy!

A man rushed into the doctor's surgery, jumped on the doctor's back, and started screaming "One! Two! Three! Four!"
"Wait a minute! yelled the doctor, struggling to free himself. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Well, doctor," said the eccentric man, "they did say I could count on you!"
A jeweler standing behind the counter of his shop was astounded to see a man come hurtling head-first through the window.
"What on earth are you up to?" he demanded.
"I'm terribly sorry," said the man, "I forgot to let go of the brick!"

The other day the neighbor's dog saw a sign that said: "Wet paint" - so he did!

He traveled with great speed, in a suit of fine tweed.
Oh, that boy, so stylish yet vain!
"I am in agreement with that." You can also say, "Ich bin nicht damit einverstanden." which means "I am not in agreement with that."
German is great. Deutsch ist toll. It's difficult but it's worth it.
Alle Menschen sollte wenigstens zwei Fremdsprachen lernen.
All people should learn at least two foreign languages.
The latest Feminist saying I learned was, "Frauen sollten immer bekommen 'gleichen Lohn fuer gleiche Arbeit.'"
"Women should always receive 'equal wages for equal work.'"
Okay, enough about German. I don't blog often, this is pretty fun. I probably won't do it again anytime in the near future. Okay, maybe during spring break. My life is rather busy. Work, school, work, school, this, that, etc.
I saw the Magnetic Fields in San Francisco last weekend and it was fabulous. I thought that I would never ever get the chance to see them live, but I did and it was completely worth the hectic weekend that follow. Their music makes me so happy.
Also, other music makes me happy.
Right now, I'm reading Vasari's Live of the Artists and it's very interesting reading original text (translated of course, I can't read Italian) from the Renaissance with all of the biases and prejudices that people in those times carry. Not unlike our times, but we can just see theirs a bit more clearly, because we've "evolved" beyond that viewpoint. He also thinks that Italian art is the epitome of everything noble, worthy, and beautiful in art. I highly recommend this book. So far, for my Art History Seminar class, this has been my favourite reading.
Artemisia Gentileschi had a very interesting life and is a wonderful Baroque artist that should be noticed.
I just acquired some new music from Cameron's computer and the internet. I want to make a new mix soon. Lately, everytime I make a mix I always think there is something missing. Maybe that is because you can only fit 80 minutes or less of music onto one CD.
Improv Games are fun.
Someday I'll be able to type relatively fast without having to glance at the keyboard. The less I think about where the letters are, and let my fingers find them the easier it is.

In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus: Eins, zwei, ... g'suffa!
Da läuft so manches Fäßchen aus: Eins, zwei, ... g'suffa!
Da hat so manche braver Mann: Eins, zwei, ... g'suffa!
Gezeigt was er so vertragen kann
Schon früh am Morgen fing er an
Und spät am Abend kam er heraus
So schön ist's im Hofbräuhaus.
